My first guest of the New Year, 2025 is Welsh International Darren Williams. He has many caps to his name including being captain and recently manager of the Welsh team.

We chatted about Corrib, including his story of when he caught his best brown of just over 10lb plus a salmon both taken on the fly. Plus he tells of his love of the lakes of Mid Wales, Claerwen and Elan Valley.

This week I chat with Irish angler Darren Duffy from Cork. Even though he lives near the Black Water which has fished it all his life, it's the loughs he prefers to fish. Darren is a talented fly tier and has a feature in this Autumn issue of the Flyfishing Journal, showing his favourite patterns. He talks of the great fish he has had this season on Lough Sheelin and Ree while fishing the spent, plus how fishing the Mayfly nymph is becoming more popular and on its day can be deadly.
